Review by hotel critic
As an environmental scientist with a keen interest in sustainable travel, I recently had the pleasure of staying at a lovely hotel perched in the mountains over Lake Como. Despite its one-star rating, I found this hotel to be a smart choice for travelers who appreciate value alongside charm. The room we stayed in had a breathtaking view of the lake and mountains. Although basic, the accommodations were clean, and the absence of televisions ensured a peaceful evening, allowing us to soak in the tranquil surroundings. The hotel's dedication to simplicity is commendable, especially for those wanting to disconnect from the hustle of modern life. A highlight was the onsite restaurant, serving delightful local Italian dishes that showcased the region's flavors. While breakfast was fair, dinner, particularly the wood-fired pizzas, exceeded expectations. We appreciated the free public parking, which alleviated any concerns about vehicle security. I did some trail running nearby, and while the hiking paths could be better marked, the natural beauty was undeniable. For those seeking an authentic experience away from the crowded tourist spots, this hotel offers quite a value without sacrificing the scenic views that make a trip worthwhile.
